Loopholes enforcing Gun Laws
There are many loopholes in our government today enforcing gun laws around the world. People are still able to smuggle and get their hands on guns one way or another and even if they get locked up for it. People arent being penalized for what they did. Bloomberg had also stated his statement that there were loopholes in our governement today as well because people somehow are still able to purchase a gun with or without a license to do so. Studies show that 70% of the crime rates are due to guns, and about 25-50% are unlicensed dealers. They don't really care about doing background checks, or any of that to take safety precautions. On another note, some cities have already banned guns completely to prevent trouble. "This argument has some appeal to those seeking an easy fix to mass public shootings. But mandating background checks at gun shows will not reduce crime significantly. Rather than closing a loophole in current law, mandatory checks will be a step towards banning private firearms sales between individuals. "
They created a system called the National Instant Check (NIC) and it is a national database containing records of people who are disqulified from receiving firearms. Here is the following process: "Under NICS, dealers must clear every firearms purchase through a background check of the prospective buyer by the FBI. The dealer calls NICS and provides an operator with: (1) his Federal firearms license number and unique password; (2) the potential buyer's name, date of birth, sex and race; (3) and the type of gun to be transferred, handgun or long gun. The operator checks the data against NICS's database of prohibited persons and either approves or delays the sale. A delay indicates that the check turned up information that requires further review by an analyst, who by law has up three business days to approve or deny the sale - longer than the duration of most gun shows, which last over a weekend". In conclusion, gun control advocates are seeking to close nonexsisitent loopholes, in other words to close down private firearm transfers to minimize the crime rates and what not.

Bloomberg wants to strengthen gun laws
http://www.ny1.com/content/top_stories/132009/bloomberg-calls-on-federal-government-to-strengthen-gun-laws
"Mayor Michael Bloomberg is calling on the federal government to strengthen laws to keep drug addicts and abusers from obtaining weapons."
Bloomberg had a conference meeting pointing out loopholes in the governments system of enforcing the law. "The mayor said that the "system that's supposed to protect us from dangerous and deranged people has failed."
Bloomberg decides to come out now with this stiuation when it has been going on for years under the "Black Market" simply because an incident with a 22 year old man in Arizona had beared arms killing six people and wounded 14 people including a congresswomen as well. The man is held without bail due to the shooting. The man "Loughner" had a past history of drug use and was denied from the military when he had signed up.
In conclusion, laws have been passed but not many are enforcing it as much as they should be which also results in the death rates going up as well.
Bloomberg says there are three common sense steps to take in order to fix the nation's gun laws. They include fixing background checks, improving communication between federal agencies, and appointing a director for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

History of Guns
Starting in the 9th century, gun powder had been invented and then firearms in the 12th century in China. Throughout time, these firearms have been improved and changed to be more destructive to the militaries.
The ancestors of firearm was first called the fire lance which was gunpowder filled in a tube that was attached to the end of a spear and used as a flame thrower. This was back in the day when people didn't have the type of technology to make advanced weapons like today. This first started in China. Firearms also started in the 14th century with the Arabs used for war. As we go down the line of history, there were also firearms in the west. and it had made thier way there through the silk road.
"Since the introduction of the flintlock musket in the 17th century, military small arms have gone through a series of significant changes"
The first puckle musket gun was invented in 1718, by James Puckle of London, England. "Puckle Gun," a tripod-mounted, single-barreled flintlock gun fitted with a multishot revolving cylinder. Ever since there, there have many changes to the musket gun and many more made throughout time.
From there, guns have improved over time through gunpowder and as time passed, technology had advanced which gave the upper hand to improve the guns that we have today and will continue to keeep improving simply to keep funding and helping the military. Every year, millions of dollars are funded to the miliatary.
